Is it one of the St Clare’s books? They look quite young here so I’ll go for The Twins at St Clare’s.

I'll try The Birthday Kitten (a book which I've read but don't remember much about at all).

You're right, Anita.
It's part of the series "Peter und Penny" in German together with The Adventure of the Strange Ruby, The Very Big Secret and The Adventure Of The Secret Necklace.
I've not read for a while too and never in English, I think.
What about this one?

Good Old Secret Seven?
The Chief looked at Fatty. "Brains are good, courage is excellent, resourcefulness is rare," he said, "but generosity crowns everything, Frederick. One of these days I'll be proud of you!" - "Vanished Prince".

Adventurous Four Again?
"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.
