Here's another easy one to keep the game moving along:
‘I always keep my promises. Now go away and keep yours. Girls! Pooh!’

Sounds like one of the Lawdler twins from Secret Trail. I'll guess Guy.

Thanks Pete. Here's one where the series will be easily identifiable, but maybe the book less so.

"The wrappings were soon off - and the Seven crowded round as Jack put the big telescope together, and showed them how the long tube could be stretched out even further."

Good Old Secret Seven.

One of my favourites as a child. :-)
'Oh voice of Spring of Youth
hearts mad delight,
Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'

Thanks Daisy! :-D

Here's another - probably very easy! :D

'And then the whole room seemed to disappear! A shimmering radiance came instead, that blotted out every single thing - a radiance that was the same strange, unknown colour that the boys had seen hanging over the ruined village the night before.'
'Oh voice of Spring of Youth
hearts mad delight,
Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'

This guess will definitely be wrong - but it reminded me a tiny bit of Five Get Into A Fix.

I thought "Fix" too, but if not that then is it "Moon Castle"?

Well done, Daisy - yes - The Secret of Moon Castle.

I reckon Pete knew that, as he said he'd be 'over the Moon'...

Okay, try this one. :)

He poked up with his walking stick. The bricks were lodged very loosely across the chimney, and they fell down into the grate with a clatter and a cloud of dust, making the children jump. When the dust had settled John put his head up again to see if the chimney was clear.
