Well done, Rob.
As for the new one... is it
The Children of Cherry-Tree Farm ?
I was sure you'd get the Galliano quote!
No - sorry the new quote isn't from Cherry Tree Farm!
'Oh voice of Spring of Youth
hearts mad delight,
Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure )

Cheers.
Here's the next. Again it is
the very first line in the book:
TWO children and a dog raced down to the village
sweet-shop in excitement.
" A kind heart always brings its own reward," said Mrs. Lee.

I have a feeling that's the opening line of
The Children of Kidillin , Pete.

Yes - correct.
Using the first lines keeps this game really moving along.

Thanks, Pete. I'm away from home at the moment, though, so won't be able to post a new quote until at least tomorrow (as I don't want to do it without having the book as a definite reference).

Hiya Courtenay, gentle reminder for the next post.
...and there, hidden among the leaves, was Peronel. She had beautiful golden hair and was dressed in silvery white with silver wings on her back.

Thanks, Shanku, although the usual rule is to leave it a week before reminding the person whose turn it is next — it's only been four days!! I'm back at home now but have been fairly busy at work. I'll pick a new one today.

Not so much a rule as an advisory comment to give the setter of a question a week to respond to a reply. At least that's how I first interpreted it.
'Tis loving and giving that makes life worth living.

Here's where I was getting it from:
https://www.enidblytonsociety.co.uk/for ... =19&t=4564 " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Anyway, how about this (not a first line this time!)...
So the girls were made to take their turn at the oars, and the boys lazed as they went along past the thickly-wooded banks.

That line is from chapter eight of one of Julie's faves: The Boy Next Door.
" A kind heart always brings its own reward," said Mrs. Lee.
