To Chief Constable Jenks
From Bill Cunningham, Director General MI5
On behalf of myself and the Chief Constable of the Metropolitan Police, I would like to ask you to pass on our thanks to all the officers who came to London to help with the events last Monday. They did Her Majesty and the country proud, upholding the fine tradition of policing and engaging with the public in a pleasant manner.
However, one of your constables did give us cause for concern, finding spurious reasons to stop-and-search three young men.
They were
• A Deliveroo cyclist
• A Queen’s Scout
• A Westminster Abbey Chorister
Each time he yelled out “you don’t fool me, you toad-of-a-boy” and pulled their red hair as if he expected it to be a wig.
I am sure you will be able to deal with this man appropriately
Yours
Bill

There's only one problem there, Viv, there is no 'Chief Constable' of the Metropolitan Police, they are known as the "Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis".
Hmmm, I wonder who Bill is referring to?

Absolutely brilliant, Viv!!
I wish we really could have had Bill and Kiki there in London to help out with the solemn occasion. What other Blyton characters could have made an appearance, do you think? I can imagine Loony and Miranda causing chaos somehow...
And yes, one of the first things I thought that day two weeks ago — as the initial shock of the news eased — was "So now Kiki will be able to say "God save the King!" again... I wonder if they'll change it back in all future editions of the books?!" (I'm finding it odd enough getting used to it in the national anthem, which of course has not been sung with those words during my lifetime!)

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Well Loony might have been that 'Loony' who approached Her Majesty's coffin wanting to see if she was inside. He was actually detained under the mental health act, after all.

Re: Which EB characters to invite?
This is a really tough one! And it would be chaotic with all the different animals they'd bring along. But I'd probably go with...
George (and Timmy)
Dick
Barney (and Miranda)
Jack (and Kiki)
Fatty (and Buster)
Jock (and Biddy, from 'Off to Camp')
