Thanks, Daisy. Mind you, I'm thinking there should really be no problem with repeating a word after a while — someone might come up with a different book or incident to describe for it. So long as the last use of the word was long enough ago that it doesn't feel like we're seeing the same ones again and again! What do others think?

Anyway, I must say I really enjoy this game — it's fun and fascinating to see all the different scenes from Blyton books that can be conjured up for us with one word! :D

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

I see what you mean, Courtenay. Repetition probably won't matter once in a while because so many different associations are possible. When I put the word "fair" Rob responded with "Rilloby Fair", but someone might have referred to the fair at Peterswood in The Mystery of the Missing Necklace, or to Jenny Wren saying "Fair's fair" in The Family at Red-Roofs, or to Elizabeth telling Arabella it's "not fair" for some children at Whyteleafe to have heaps more pocket money than others (The Naughtiest Girl is a Monitor)... etc.

Giant: The giant in Adventures of the Wishing-Chair who wants Peter and Mollie to help him with his sums.

Glue:
"Heyho for a starry night and a heathery bed!" - Jack, The Secret Island.

"There is no bond like the bond of having read and liked the same books."
- E. Nesbit, The Wonderful Garden.

Yes Courtenay.. as I did the update I too thought it wouldn't really matter as a different idea would probably be thought of if a word does come up more than once. (I thought of the Find-Outers link Anita for the word "fair"), and yes, I'm enjoying the game too.

Cave: The cave behind the waterfall in The Valley of Adventure! :D

(I was considering saying the Cave of Books — which I suppose is a "Blyton world" in itself — but wasn't sure it would count... )

Letter: The letter from Curious Connie's mother to the mother of Jo, Bessie and Fanny at the beginning of The Folk of the Faraway Tree. I guess Enid for some reason didn't want to say what the children's mother's name was, but it always struck me as memorably silly (even at the age of 5 or however old I was when I first read it) that anyone should address a letter to "Dear Old Friend"!

Stairs: The stairs the toys slide down, sitting on a tray, in 'Goodbye Amelia Jane' (More About Amelia Jane). In the story, the toys open the front door and Amelia slides down the stairs and straight out into the garden and ends up floating down the stream!
