Not ladder (already guessed by Rob) or elephant.
I’ll give a clue - it’s not an physical object - i.e. something you can touch.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

The Astonishing Adventure'?

Could well have been, but it's not that either, Rob.

Dream on, Courtenay. Sorry it's not that either.
However, the answer I am sure is something most would enjoy.

You're on the right track, Rob, but that's not it.

JSYK, there *was* a Blyton title called "The Astonishing Ladder", but if that's what you were looking for, well....
Was it "The Astonishing..... Curtains"?
Was it "The Astonishing..... Curtains"?

Yes, I know there is a 'ladder' but that's not the one I chose at the outset, daanton.
It's not curtains either. If you have read my more recent posts, I have given clues and one is that it is not a physical object (see the one at the top of this page).

Re: Can You Complete The Enid Blyton Story Title?
Funnily enough, I came across 'The Astonishing Curtains' yesterday in the book 'The Conjuring Wizard and other stories' but realised it couldn't be that.
Enid seemed to like the word 'Astonishing' and used it in many short stories - The Astonishing Ladder, The Astonishing Idea, The Astonishing Stranger, The Astonishing Fish, The Astonishing Brush, The Astonishing Guy, to name but a few!!
Astonishing really!!

Re: Can You Complete The Enid Blyton Story Title?
So who is this Astonishing Guy and where can we meet him??
(I know, I know, she would have been using the word in the traditional sense of a Guy Fawkes effigy, not the modern sense... Well done, Daanton, for the correct guess re "party"!)
