Why are we so bothered? If the child doesn't want to play, then leave her alone!

Jolly sensible of you, Moonraker. I'm not surprised you aren't going into raptures at the thought of your essay being 'judged' by a 12-year-old. It reinforces my belief that iluveb was merely out to harvest a few ideas for a school project.
(There! If that doesn't make her crawl out of the woodwork in indignation, nothing will.)

Of course she was! Project over, no need for this thread/competition!Fatty wrote:It reinforces my belief that iluveb was merely out to harvest a few ideas for a school project...

This is a point to consider. But remember Icey, many people post for a few weeks and then just disappear from the forums altogether. Best not to take some things too seriously.

I wouldn't be surprised if them type of posts are the ones that put her of judging!Fatty wrote: It reinforces my belief that iluveb was merely out to harvest a few ideas for a school project.
In came the Taggertys. They were clean, except Biddy knees looked like she had been crawling half a mile in some muddy place.

Re: The Mega Writing Competition
After listening to the wise and fair jeremiad from the previous posters,I feel I must weigh in with my own lucubration..
If this competition is indeed destined not to be judged by its original promulgator,I propose that we judge the best entry for 'chat' ......
My current fave post being one of Tonys that appeared early on in the thread about not being supposed to 'chat' here!
Every time I read it it creases me up and has become one of my most enjoyable moments here on the forums!
The idea of the owner of the whole website being reigned in by a very young schoolgirl who may/may not have instigated the whole thread for her own school work purposes is an amazing turn of events.
If you google 'The Mega Writing Competition' on the world wide web amazingly, there is only one reference to it and yes, you guessed it,its right here on our society website!(yes, there is the odd passing reference to those boring and oh so predictable 'short story competitions' but nothing like the unique 'mega' challenge that was set for us all here!)
I had imagined there would have been many other 'mega' competitions set,but we have the distinct honour/ignominy privilege, depending on how you look at it!
You may be wondering what indeed does 'mega' actually mean....
It originates from the Greek word megas, meaning great; and also meg- which has Indo-European roots.
From that we get large-megadose. extraordinary: megahit.not forgeting good old megahertz and megabyte!
Who hasnt been impressed by the odd megalith or run into the odd megalomaniac here and there.
Indeed, who among us does not privately hanker to be mega rich!
So,if indeed iluveb has got cold feet and 'done a runner' I for one feel proud 'just to have taken part'
Personally, I imagine the pride of participating in the 'Mega Writing Competition' may be somewhat similar to the exultantant feelings of euphoria and extreme elation enjoyed by David Walliams on recently completing his epic Thames swim,or the feats endured for charity by John Bishop.
(although it must be pointed out that neither of those events although good and worthy as they no doubt are were labelled 'mega'!)
It may well be that one day one of these charitable heroes, or perhaps even one the future gold medal winners of the fast approaching olympic games may stumble upon 'The Mega Writing Competition' and wonder and read in amazement some of the galimatias we have to endure here!

To anyone waiting with bated breath for the results of this competition, I've asked Daisy to do the honours and she has agreed, so a winner will be picked in due course! Cheers, Daisy!

Well, well, well. Welcome back 'Iluveb'. We were afraid you'd been kidnapped or something a-rather for not replying for so long!
