Does Mrs Layman appear in the 20th Famous Five book: Five Have a Mystery to Solve. If so, her nephew is Wilfred.

You're right Poppy. That's the book and the nephew's name is Wilfrid - note the unusual spelling of the name.

Thanks, Daisy - interesting use of spelling there for Wilfrid. I would definitely refer to this name as Wilfred.

Anyway - New Question: Staying with the Famous Five, in which book, does which character appear, whose 'tip of his nose turns white when he is angry'?

Smuggler's Top - Mr Lenoir!

Yes, well Enid decided to spell the name Wilfrid so to be accurate we should too - when talking about this particular boy.

Yes that's right! Over to you!

I wonder if Enid knew anyone to influence this spelling - like a relative with this name, because I didn't even know you could spell it this way before reading Mystery to Solve - it just comes to mind with the fred at the end. Even now after reading the book several times, still I think Wilfred!!

Yes, it is strange, isn't it. I haven't seen that spelling anywhere else either.

Next question:
What was the name of the oldest member of "The Gang" in Six Bad Boys?

Wilfrid is the older spelling of the name. It comes from the Anglo-Saxon name Wilfrið (pronounced Wilfrith).

Fred is the oldest member of the gang in The Six Bad Boys.

Thanks, Daisy.

Who throws a "smell-bottle" out of the window of a second-floor classroom and injures a younger boy quite badly?

Thanks, Anita!

Q. At the beginning of The Island of Adventure, Philip and Jack are staying on at a teachers house to catch up on schoolwork. There is a small class of children there - besides Philip, Jack and Lucy-Ann what are the two other boys names (the ones that are mentioned, anyhow).
