Re: True or false?
Yep. Well done, Barnard. It was false as, like you say, Tupping left the whistle there to implicate Luke.

Re: True or false?
Thanks , Bertie. Here is another one.
True or false.
Ern Goon once wrote a pome about a ‘pore dead cat’.

Re: True or false?
I'll go for false — I'm pretty sure it was actually a "pore dead pig"!

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Re: True or false?
You’re right, Courtenay. ‘Pore Dead Pig’ was Ern’s pome.
‘The Pore Dead Cat’ was an Ern style pome I wrote over a year ago.
Your turn next.

Re: True or false?
While the thread has stalled I'll post a new question to get it going again...
True or False?
In The Mystery of the Burnt Cottage, the first mention of Inspector Jenks informs us that Larry's father knows him quite well?

Re: True or false?
I suppose this is the problem with just two options, but, no, it's not false, Boodi. Anybody else want a guess?
ps - I didn't remember it either, Boodi, but recently re-read it and was surprised to see it.

Re: True or false?
It's been a while now without anyone accepting the tap in of a true or false question with false already ruled out! So we might as well progress with Boodi setting the next question.
Just to confirm the answer - it was True that Inspector Jenks' first mention in the series informs us that Larry's father knows him quite well...
"What! Tell old Clear-Orf and have him taking all the credit and praise to himself?" cried Larry. "I should think not. We ought to go to the Inspector of Police himself, Inspector Jenks. He's head of all the police in this district. Daddy knows him quite well. He's a very, very clever man, and he lives in the next town."
I was re-reading Burnt Cottage recently and was reminded of that - I think it's interesting that it never gets mentioned again. Though
Larry himself obviously didn't know him that well, as he didn't recognise him at all at the river.
Over to you, Boodi.

Re: True or false?
Had to 'cheat' a little bit on this one. I was chatting to my mum today and she mentioned she'd just finished reading Rat-a-Tat house, and that reminded me about this question. She says the answer is definitely true, so I'm going with that.

Re: True or false?
Thanks, Boodi.
True or False?
In The Mystery of the Hidden House, as well as mewing like a cat and mooing like a cow when trying to startle Ern (who was actually Mr Goon), Fatty also clucked like a hen.

Re: True or false?
Oddly enough I can only remember Mr. Goon's concern about the cow, so as I cannot recall Fatty mewing like a cat I assume that he also clucked like a hen, so I'll guess that it is TRUE. Am I correct?

Re: True or false?
Yes, that's correct, Boodi. Well figured out.
Fatty mewed, mooed and clucked and then was deciding whether to grunt like a pig or wail like a baby - he decided to wail, which scared Goon the most! So grunting like a pig would have been the false answer but I went for a noise that he did make.
