It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

To get this one going again:

T A 14 B in the P P S
"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

There are fourteen books in the Pitkin Pleasure Series.
"Heyho for a starry night and a heathery bed!" - Jack, The Secret Island.

"There is no bond like the bond of having read and liked the same books."
- E. Nesbit, The Wonderful Garden.

And I thought that would be mildly difficult as it's a less well known series. I was forgetting about Anita's encyclopaedic knowledge of course!

Sorry - the name of that series has just stuck in my mind for some reason!

Next one:

E P 11 T on H C.
"Heyho for a starry night and a heathery bed!" - Jack, The Secret Island.

"There is no bond like the bond of having read and liked the same books."
- E. Nesbit, The Wonderful Garden.

No one seems to want to have a go at this. So here's a crazy effort.

Enid passed eleven trawlers on her cruise.

Dave
He called the greatest archers to a tavern on the green.

Sorry - that's not it, Dave!

Clue: On the page I was looking at, the "C" is twice called a "C". However, it's also called a "C-of-D" once.

So we could say

E P 11 T on H C.

or we could say

E P 11 T on H C-of-D.

Enid put eleven toys on her chest-of-drawers. Well,it sounds feasible.

A good guess but you've got a couple of words wrong, Dave.
"Heyho for a starry night and a heathery bed!" - Jack, The Secret Island.

"There is no bond like the bond of having read and liked the same books."
- E. Nesbit, The Wonderful Garden.

Is it: Elizabeth put eleven things on her chest-of-drawers from The Naughtiest Girl in the School, Anita?
'Go down to the side-shows by the river this afternoon. I'll meet you somewhere in disguise. Bet you won't know me!' wrote Fatty.

I think that's a repeat of one you used four years ago, Anita. I more or less got it wrong then as I said trinkets instead of things, but you gave it to me anyway. Neverthless, I'd forgotten about it anyway. :(

You're right of course, Eddie. Well done and over to you!

Sorry about the repeat, Dave. You did well to remember that I'd used it before - I'd completely forgotten!
