Thanks, Yak.

What were the names of the two scientists who had disappeared in Five Have a Wonderful Time?

(I don't even remember the donkey costume incident that Barnard was asking about. Just shows how little I've read the last two books compared to the rest!)
Actually, it was a horse costume.... a horse whose name was Clopper.

As for the question....

Terry-Kane and Pottersham—the latter holding the former hostage.

[BTW, the book mentions Terry-Kane's first name as Derek, whereas the 1970s TV series mentions his first name, according to Uncle Quentin, as.... “Mark?!”]

Daanton is not correct.
Clopper was in Five Go Down To the Sea.
As I posted, the donkey costume was in Five Are Together Again.

Yes, Barnard, you did make clear that it was Five Are Together Again I obviously remember Clopper from Five Go Down To The Sea. But I've not read the last two books for years so I'd completely forgotten about Dick and George dressing as a Donkey!

Back to the question, you're correct about the scientists names, Daanton. So it's your turn to set the next one.

Just a reminder that Daanton got my last question correct.
Though, while it's been ten days so far, maybe it should be opened up if anyone else wants to set the next one just to keep the thread going?

Yes, anyone is free to ask a new question if it has been more than a week:

"Heyho for a starry night and a heathery bed!" - Jack, The Secret Island.

Well, as I only recall the romp Julian and Dick made inside the Clopper costume [from the 1978-79 TV series, natch!], so naturally it has been a while since I last re-read the book(s)....

One thing that *has not* been shown on the TV Series but *has* been detailed in the book.... from “Five Have a Wonderful Time”....

What was the name of the snake particularly fancied by Mr Slither (and, as it seems, Jo as well)?

Yes, you are correct, Boatbuilder!

But another difference between the books and the TV series (1978-79).... we would not see Jo until “Five Fall Into Adventure”. Perhaps Julie Harris
wasn't available for production work on the other episode(s) where Jo did appear, according to the books?

And another difference between the books and BOTH TV series.... in “Five Are Together Again”, both the book and the 1978-79 TV series features a memory man named Mr Wooh (apparently we're assuming an Anglo-Saxon Mr Wooh) while the 1990’s TV series features a Mr Wooh (or should that be
a “Mr Wu”?) who is Chinese!

Vive les différences!

Anyway, back to our game.... we await your question, Boatbuilder, whenever you're ready!

I think that Five Fall Into Adventure is actually the first book in which Jo appears.

That's right, Barnard. I've just been re-reading those very books with Jo's first two appearances: Five Fall Into Adventure (#9) and Five Have A Wonderful Time (#11). Her third and final appearance is Five Have Plenty of Fun (#14).

Here’s the next question.

From which book is the following quote from:
“Look! boards under the heather!”
“Laid neatly across and across. What for?”
“Pull them up!”
"You can't change history as that won't change the future"

I think that's Five Go Off In a Caravan? When they find out they'd put the caravans right on top of the boards that cover the underground entrance?
