Re: The Six Bad Boys quiz :)
I simply love the book. It really is a most touching story.
Umm ... you are right, Jen. Here's the ans. for your question:
Answer: Les, Jack, Patrick, Will, Bob and Tom.
Question: What is the name of the town the story takes place?
Clue: It starts with an "L" and ends with "N".

Yes, I'm pretty sure Jen's right, but Jen and Jools haven't been online since last year, so there's really no point waiting for them.
A. In the wallet the boys found there were 30 pounds.
Q. What was Patrick's surname?
By the way, I just found a typo in my copy. When Patrick tries to persuade one of the others in the gang to come and keep watch for him while he gets his money out of the money-box at the newsagents, he says about Bob: 'Don't take any notice of him!' said Patrick, scornfully. 'He only pinches form his ma!'

Patrick's surname is O'Shea.
Had to look this up though - I only cheated to look up the typo (honest gov). In my 1951 hardback and 1968 paperback edition it says FROM. Wonder when the typo started?

If I could live here on this secret island always and always and always, and never grow up at all, I would be quite happy

In came the Taggertys. They were clean, except Biddy knees looked like she had been crawling half a mile in some muddy place.

In my hardback copy there is no Les - it is Len short for Leonard and the surname is Ross. And yes, I think he did turn over a new leaf.

Hmm. I just checked the review and I think I should hand this over to you.
Les's full name was Lesley (I didn't ask the last name as I myself don't remember it) And he did turn to be good.

Re: The Six Bad Boys quiz :)
Thanks Mehul - I assumed by full name you meant surname as well. Now why should Leonard be "updated" to Lesley? (This spelling I have more often met as a female by the way - Leslie is the male version more often). I know Leonard sounds a bit dated perhaps but I haven't met any "Lesleys" who are younger than middle aged now either!
So now I must think of a question!
Here's an easy one: What is the Mackenzie's dog called?

Re: The Six Bad Boys quiz :)
In fact, the boy who milks the cows at Whyteleafe is named Leonard. I might have made a spelling error when I wrote Lesley. I never remember which is the male version and which is the female version.
