Some deem Enid Blyton's simple writing style a key feature that makes her books so engaging and accessible for children. Peter Cash writes: 'It is by no means a weakness that her straightforward syntax and her compact vocabulary set up no resistance to the pace at which a ten-year-old wants to follow her narrative.' Her simple writing style gives the books an unimpeded flow and pace that keep readers immersed in the dynamic narrative, rather than preoccupied with unnecessary details. Indeed, the stories are largely driven by lively dialogue rather than description, which enables them to progress in a swift and stimulating way.

Re: EB Article on my FB Page
A lovely Famous Five article on the Book People website, very positive. I particularly like the comments on Enid Blyton's writing style, which I feel are spot on:
"Heyho for a starry night and a heathery bed!" - Jack, The Secret Island.
"There is no bond like the bond of having read and liked the same books."
- E. Nesbit, The Wonderful Garden.

Nigel, I'll check the Society FB page again. For some strange reason I never receive any FB Society updates (and usually tend to forget to check it after a while).Moonraker wrote:Of course, if you followed the Society Facebook page, you would have seen this on the 19th September, Chrissie! Here is the link to the website to which Facebook referred. 151 people have clicked "Like" on our page!
Thank you for the link.

You're not alone, Chrissie - I don't often receive updates for the Society page on facebook either. I'm not sure there are that many though - maybe one every two weeks or so.

I tend to receive updates on Facebook once a week on average. The last one was for the advert for the GWR.

Re: EB Article on my FB Page
I always (well, when I remember) put a link to the Teachers World page on a Wednesday, but probably no more that a couple of posts a week. I am sure (as is Tony) that Facebook hasn't resulted in any new members, just loads of 'Likes' from people who never bother to investigate further the Society or its website.
