They all look quite old for 4 children.
Julian gave an exclamation and nudged George.

The cast from the stage play, I guess!
Funnily enough, I always imagine the Famous Five to be mostly early - mid teens anyway!

Grazina Frame (misspelled as Grazyna), now aged 75, made several records for HMV between 1962 and 1964. She also appeared in a few films in the early 1960s. In 1954 she would have been 12 or 13 years old.

I wondered about the date too. If it was 1956, Grazina Frame would have been 14 or 15 years old. She was born 6th November 1941.

Re: 1956 Enid Blyton Famous Five
It certainly looks from that as if the clipping above is for 1956. I would say she does look about 14 or 15 years old in the photo.

Original Item - not a modern copy - great reference piece for your collection! Unrelated text to the rear.
A "one-off" for your Archives...
The grid on the backgound of the Item is a 1" (One-Inch) (2.5 cm) square, so very easy to compute the dimensions.
Good condition - (check Image).

Re: 1956 Enid Blyton Famous Five
Apologies, Pete - I thought maybe you'd just made a typo on your original post - but I see now that it's the seller's mistake. Confusing! I guess it has to be 1956 rather than 1954...

Re: 1956 Enid Blyton Famous Five
Lots of information about Grazina Frame, but what might have escaped even Eddie was that she was a speaker at the Centenary Enid Blyton Day in 1997. I got to know her partner, Robert Dallas, who was the composer of the Famous Five musical and he also spoke at the Day. We actually had eight speakers on that day with some just doing ten-minute slots, including Jemima Rooper and Gary Russell. Those were the days!
Incidentally she was Grazyna in the programme for the Hippodrome Famous Five - did she perhaps change it as an adult?

Re: 1956 Enid Blyton Famous Five
Sadly, I didn't attend the Centenary Enid Blyton Day, Tony. I hadn't realised that Grazina Frame had been a speaker on that occasion until I found out from reading 'Who was the first George (performer)?' thread earlier today.

Re: 1956 Enid Blyton Famous Five
I'm guessing Grazyna was the original spelling and she may have changed it later — she was from a Polish family and "Grazyna" looks like a more authentically Polish spelling than "Grazina". Maybe people were constantly mispronouncing her as "Gra-zye-na" instead of "Gra-zee-na" (which it would be) and so she changed it to be more phonetic?Tony Summerfield wrote: Incidentally she was Grazyna in the programme for the Hippodrome Famous Five - did she perhaps change it as an adult?

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)
