'Go down to the side-shows by the river this afternoon. I'll meet you somewhere in disguise. Bet you won't know me!' wrote Fatty.

These postcards date from the time of the TW letters we read every week. £180 is an awful lot of money for three postcards even though they must be incredibly rare.

Re: Blyon postcards sold at auction
I just zoomed in on the postcards and read them. Nellie must have been delighted to receive such warm, friendly replies. It seems that she sent Enid Blyton a home-made calendar and a "jolly" photograph.

Re: Blyon postcards sold at auction
Enid Blyton letters and postcards from the 1930s are very rare and normally sell for more than 180 pounds each so this buyer got a real bargain.
There are many available from the 1950s.
I think it is wonderful these have survived and they show the caring side of Enid to have written such personal messages to a little girl.
As Kate Mary says, these are from the time of the TW columns.
cheers

Re: Blyon postcards sold at auction
I think someone who collected stamps was trying to remove them for their collection but failed miserably. I did the same as a young boy but I never received any cards from Enid!Eddie Muir wrote:Thanks for the link, Number 6. Very interesting, but £180 seems a lot to pay for three rather tatty looking postcards. I wonder why the postage stamps have been damaged on two of them.

Those are lovely, I tried to read them but they won't zoom in on the ipad and go all blurry. I watch a lot of the antiques programmes and keep hoping to see a Blyton item on one but there never is even though postcards and letters from other famous people feature quite often.

Same here, IceMaiden! I have an I-pad & have trouble reading certain items at times. I just posted the link for those that can!
