Quite by chance I have come across this newspaper article concerning the remains of a French brigatine, the Jeune Hortense, uncovered by winter storms near Penzance earlier this month. Apologies if this has already been mentioned on this forum. However, it may be of interest as it brings to mind the storyline in Five on a Treasure Island where a shipwreck is also uncovered by winter storms and conveniently deposited on Kirrin Island.
Interesting as the Jeune Hortense is, it is nowhere near as well preserved as George Kirrin's shipwreck and neither does it contain any interesting artefacts!

What, no map to the hidden cache of ingots? Thanks for sharing, Petermax.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Re: Shipwreck
Fascinating story. There must be hundreds such wrecks around Cornwall.
