Article in The Times - An Enid Blyton Christmas
Split from another thread.
As I had to pop out to the shops early I picked up a copy of The Times. It contains a complete short story from The Teacher's Treasury, a short piece by Imogen Smallwood about Christmas at Green Hedges and a lovely photograph I don't think I've seen before. I'm glad I got it, thanks for letting us know (in another thread) Tony as I don't usually buy newspapers.

Re: Article in The Times - An Enid Blyton Christmas
A lovely-looking double page article - it's particularly nice to see the Sunny Stories letter and Imogen's memories of Christmas at Green Hedges. Introducing that section of the newspaper is a coloured illustration of the Famous Five celebrating a modern Christmas with some traditional elements. Thanks for letting us know about this, Tony.

Delightful! - definitely a cut out and keep item!

There seems to have been an HTML malfunction! Try as I might, I can't see why the quote hasn't loaded correctly. Maybe it's the smilie.

I tried taking out the smilie but it made no difference. I think I'll just remove the quotation!

Prob just as well. I have never been beaten by an HTML problem, but couldn't see anything wrong in this case. There must have been a solution though. It's the sort of problem I enjoy!

I bought a copy of 'The Times' while I was out this morning. The article looks very interesting and I look forward to reading it later today.
By the way, which quotation are you referring to Nigel and Anita? Am I missing something?

Re: Article in The Times - An Enid Blyton Christmas
It was a quotation from Tony, letting us know about the article in The Times. For some reason the coding wouldn't work even though I played around with it - the coding was visible around the quoted words. In the end I just removed the quotation, though you can still see Tony's original post in the thread 'Princess Diana's Noddy Book'.

Re: Article in The Times - An Enid Blyton Christmas
I have just got my copy of today's Times... thanks to a kind husband who went to the newsagent specially to get it for me. I like the mention on the front page "How to have an Enid Blyton Christmas". It's nice to see something non-judgemental about her in a newspaper!

Re: Article in The Times - An Enid Blyton Christmas
Sales of The Times must have improved today with all the Blytonites buying it. I have just bought a copy too, the article is a nice read.

Re: Article in The Times - An Enid Blyton Christmas
Merged with an existing topic.
The Times has, today, published a short story by Enid Blyton called 'A Christmas Wish' which was first published in1926, and is now part of 'The Enchanted Shoes and Other Stories (Bounty Books)
There is a lovely colour photo of Enid dated 1962' and also a copy of a Christmas letter to her readers in Sunny Stories, 1950.
Imogen Smallwood has also written a description of Christmas with Enid, which does sound idyllic 'our mother was very generous and our Christmases at Green Hedged were so happy'. Perhaps rather different to the impression I gained from 'Childhood at Green Hedges!'
I am going to hold on to my copy of today's Times, and if you can get a copy or see it online, then you will enjoy the articles and story.

Of course, I should have referred to BBCode, not HTML.
A fabulous couple of pages. Well done The Times!

Re: Article in The Times - An Enid Blyton Christmas
We get The Times at the care home where I work, so I went to the lounge to see the article — only to find that someone else seemed to have nicked the Times2 section where it is. Maybe there's another Blyton fan in the house...

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Re: Article in The Times - An Enid Blyton Christmas
Thanks for highlighting this. I rushed out of the house 5 minutes ago and bought the last copy of The Times
- the only newspaper that has now sold out. Must have been a rush! Splendid article and a lovely early Christmas present.
