Stinker's rehabilitation & potential.

Post by pete9012S »

What could Stinker have achieved with love, good training and complete de-stressing rehabilitation after his horrendous encounter with Kirrins & Timmy??

While we have long regarded dogs like Stinker as man's best friend the sheer scale of Stinker's potential abilities are still being discovered.

Could Stinker have been retrained to have become a guide dog?

Perhaps he would not have had enough time and training to go that far.
But there are many other tasks that he could have been trained to perform....

GENERAL HOUSEHOLD ASSISTANTS

Whether it's helping their owners to get dressed or undressed, taking money out from a cashpoint, or even pressing the buttons on pedestrian crossings, Stinker could have been retrained to Winalot and have been of vital assistance.

SEARCHING FOR BOMBS

Stinker possessed more than 220 million olfactory receptors in his nose, whereas we humans only have five million, so when it comes to sniffing out explosives and drugs a retrained Stinker could have really come into his own.

RESCUING HUMANS
A golden retriever trained by Canine Partners called Orca had been with his partner Cheryl Smith for just two months when her wheelchair hit a brick and toppled down an embankment.

Cheryl was trapped under her wheelchair in the water and unable to get out.

Orca ran off to get help.

The first person he approached thought he was lost and took him to his home but Orca broke free. He went back to his mistress to check on her condition before trying to get someone else.

He barked at a jogger and jumped at him until he realised the dog wanted him to follow him.

He did and Cheryl was rescued.

Orca received an award for his bravery and devotion to duty.

Whether it is being an early warning system for diabetes sufferers, sniffing out explosives and drugs, or working cashpoints - our favourite pets carry out so many tasks
So a happy retrained Stinker could literally have had the world at his feet (paws).

CRUFTS

Don't laugh.Stranger things have happened...
Afghan Hound: Wylie the mongrel goes from mean streets of Kandahar to Crufts and wins battle to be named top dog

Wylie was rescued from a mob in Afghanistan by a convoy of British troops
The animal had been forced into dog fights for sport in Kandahar
Soldiers treated the cross breed's wounds inflicted during savage beatings
Charity rescued the animal from Afghanistan and brought back to Britain
Owner Sarah Singleton, from Yeovil, Somerset, helped nurse him to health
Now Wylie has been crowned Best Cross-breed Rescue at the Scruffts show

Wylie, a dog rescued from a mob in Afghanistan, has been crowned cross-breed of the year at Scruffts.

So, many possibilities lie ahead for the all new Stinker The Wonder Dog.
Which ever way he went and whichever path he chose I'm sure you agree he would definitely have ended up as his new owners/trainers Pedigree Chum and an extremely Happy Chappie.

So let's all join with Brian above and raise our glasses high and say:

could Stinker even have reached the pedestrian crossing button? ;-)
'Oh voice of Spring of Youth
hearts mad delight,
Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'

But I hope you'd give him a proper bath first?
