I've done a review as well. Ewan suggested it wasn't fair of me to review it when I haven't read it in its entirety but given the large extracts Pete has posted I think it's more than fair. I read some of it out to him and well, he agrees it's downright terrible. I've also clicked the "yes this review was helpful" button on the other reviews.

I don't want to say anything about this book except the short excerpt you have read is very real and is genuinely the work of Martha McClure.

Thank you for the link, Pete. After a day of computer problems, I've only just had the chance to look at it and I don't think I'll be dipping my hand in my pocket to buy a copy of Martha McClure's book.

I agree thatThe Enid Blyton Dossier and The Rupert Bear Dossier are both lovely books.

As usual I seem to be one of the very few to have read it!!!

You might be the only one this time. I read the kindle sample and I can't say I want to read more.
It doesn't sound like she really likes the books much or Enid Blyton's work, and it doesn't seem that it holds a special place in her heart. And repetition of "spic and span" gets a bit much after a while!

Maybe it gets better later on? Most of the sample is about other authors anyway.

Thanks for the link Pete. I have dipped into various bits and at times the English is excruciatingly painful. It is pretty obviously an automatic translation from goodness knows what original language. I can't think that anyone will take this seriously. I sincerely hope not anyway!

It's interesting how all these rubbishy books get themselves exposure on Amazon, Google, etc, and yet the good books seem to go unnoticed - and the people who really know what they're talking about never seem to have such high exposure. It's that old thing about people with less talent having bigger mouths!

I blame these self publishing houses. Anyone can publish anything these days, as it makes money for the self publishering company. They're not bothered whether it's fact, fiction or plain rubbish.

A proper publisher wouldn't touch half of these self published books.
