Just imagine if Ming had appeared - and ran to Nigel, falling in his arms, hugging each other and wiping away the tears......

Moonraker, it's me your Ming, I've come home.....

Fitting reunion after a long distance relationship going on for 7 years!

There will be no onlookers, dear Daisy, to witness this joyful reunion of two soul mates (well, possibly Jane will be there!). :D

I've only just caught up with this. With all that talk of models and Enid Blyton's bed I will dream well tonight!

IT's great work--Pete.Lovely, imaginative, nostalgic and yes a little eerie and scary too. But the scare is worth it.Enid must be delighted that so many of us love her--- she'll definitely wave and smile at us. :)

That really is very moving, even for someone like me who's still a relative newcomer, has never been to a Society day and hasn't met any of those "characters" in person!

If there's ever another gathering at Old Thatch, could I please join in with the group of less than ten and see if the magic works again?

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Thanks for finding this thread Courtenay, I was thinking about it quite recently, and couldn't think where it might be. Saves me having to ask Pete where it was - just got to work out a way of saving it somehow - unless of course Pete has it copyrighted? :D

Oh, I didn't "find" the thread - it was linked to in another discussion (I think the one on The Secret Island) that went a bit off topic! I'd have had no idea it existed otherwise.

I suppose you could always save the link somewhere, or copy and paste the story into a Word document to save it and print it, if you like - but yes, probably best to ask Pete first!

I'd forgotten about this thread too.

Sadly there will probably be no one meet ups for Old Thatch, as the gardens are now closed to the public, Jacky has informed us.

I used to love our meetings there, with a visit to the Spade Oak pub first, and a wander along the river at Bourne End.

Well a visit to Spade Oak and a wander along the river side would still be a possibililty but it would be hard to have to walk right past the gateway into Old Thatch, knowing we were not able to go in again.

You wouldn't be allowed in. It's a private garden!

We could always do Beaconsfield, and go and have a look at where Enid's house once stood, and look at the house next door! :P

Oh and a visit to Beckinscot Model Villlage too.

Ever heard of covert commando tactics Julie? We could slip over the fence and crawl through the bushes.
