Enid Blyton's Birthday Party 2007

Post by Viv of Ginger Pop »

Would you like to help the National Trust to run Enid Blyton's 110th Birthday Party? :D

The Big Day will be at Corfe Castle, from 10.30 - 4.30 on 11th August. Volunteers are needed

- to read stories. Two pairs of readers will alternate throughout the day. Gents particularly welcome!
- to supervise activities, such as The Giant and the Wishing Chair, Typewriting, Ginger Beer tasting etc.
- Party Games leader. Do you remember musical statues, the farmers in his den, oranges & lemons etc?
- Promote the Enid Blyton Society. Chatting to The Public about anything and everything Blytonian! All nationalities welcome.
- to send & recieve Secret Messages. Do you know morse code?

We can offer
- lunch and a thank-you BBQ afterwards (sorry, no travel costs)
- a special place to camp Saturday night. Tents & ancient Karrimats provided, bring your own sleeping bag.
- a memorable day out

Please let me know if you are interested

with thanks

Isn't the Enid Blyton Day held on her birthday? I thought so.

Viv, how I wish I was in England! I really want to come! :( :( :( :(

Anyways, how was the day, Viv? Do take pictures relating to it. I would love to see them.

Please Viv!

There are pictures of last years Birthday Party on my website (remember - the day was grey and damp!). Viking Star gave an unbiased report somewhere on the Forum.

My "official" photographer handed in a CD of the Wishing Chair Day last week. You may get to see the pictures this side of Christmas.... :( (I MUST get to grips with IT better - note to self - again!)

I am wondering when I'll be able to get another coat of varnish on the Wishing Chair; it is proving very popular outside the shop with lots of people using it to make wishes. Having not read the story they don't understand that it is chained down to stop it flying away!

Best wishes

I wouldn't like anyone to feel that they weren't asked....

This week I'm polishing up my plans for the Birthday Party, and all helpers welcome! My immediate problem is choosing a suitable picture to be printed onto the Birthday cake. :D

Best wishes

How about the original artwork of either Five on a Treasure island or The Enchanted Tree? Two of Enid's best known and best loved books. Hope it all goes off in a smashing fashion anyhow. With lashings of ginger beer of course.

I will be helping out at Enid Blyton's Birthday Party at Corfe Castle tomorrow (well, later today actually).

Once the day is over and the visitors have gone, we will have supper over a camp fire (Viv and Rosie will provide the food and ginger beer), perhaps have a Famous Five reading, and then sleep overnight in the Castle. I'll have my torch with me.

Can't wait !!! :D
