I remember that story from this compilation — obviously smoking golliwogs still passed the censors as late as 1971... (I see the book was reprinted in 1982 and '86, but we're not told whether any of the individual stories were changed by then.)

I remember that story as a child...or thought I did - but I didn't have either of those books as a child, so maybe it was a similar story! I do have both those books now though!
