Oh Viv, this is certainly not your week - could you lower yourself and eat a mince pie?

As someone who suffers from migraines, I must admit I didn't spend long looking at all those spinning images. :)

Well, I got up early this morning to get everything done.
Along the way I procured eight of my favourite, best ever mince pies from a shop a couple of miles away.

Like Fatty, I ended up buying boxes of super fresh, yummy other cakes for my mum and wife too.
The cakes and bread from this shop are simply scrumptious..

Why are these my favourite mince pies ever?

Is it the generous dusting of icing sugar, the moist crumbly pastry or the generous mince meat filling??

I hope I haven't bigged them up to much in my mind for when I taste them later with a huge mug of tea!!

However, I will be honest in my appraisal and if they are not as good as the other contenders I will say so.
Will these be the last ever pies in the 2022 taste test?

Possibly - but if I get out between Christmas and New Year the Mince Pie Gods may hurtle more temptation my way...

I like mince pies but only in December. Couldn't eat one in any other month.

A few years ago my aunt made a huge batch of mince pies and gave us about 40. I think there was something gone wrong with them as they tasted awful, the pastry was like rubber. As the rubbish only gets collected every three weeks my mum didn't want her bin filling up with mince pies when there would already be extra in it so she told me and my dad to put then in a bin in town. We took them down only to find they were all full so we put them in the only place that still had room - the bottle bank!!

I wouldn't have thought 40 mince pies would take up much space in a normal bin, unless they were really huge. Maybe you should have sent them to Pete.

This evening the little girl in the flat opposite left outside her door a drink, a plate of mince pies and a bowl of carrots.

Clearly they were left out in appreciation of a weary bell-ringer returning from the midnight service :D

(Not so sure about the carrots - I left those )

The carrots were probably for the donkey that carried Mary, Viv. :D
