Sorry about the death of Anna Karen, known to me as "Olive" from" On the Buses" but, more recently, appearingly on the British soap opera "EastEnders"

I hadn't heard that she was on EastEnders- not my TV program if choice- but felt sorry despite the years gone by

Re: Anna Karen. RIP
I saw her a few years ago at Comic Con, and she seemed delighted to be speaking to people.
TBH, the words "house fire" are enough for me. I haven't wanted to read the details and I just hope she didn't suffer.

A sad way to go and sounds like she had been in poor health for some years now.
Farewell Anna. Time for Olive Butler to join that sit-com in the sky.

RIP Anna Karen. 'On The Buses' was a regular piece of family viewing when I was small, so i grew up with vivid memories of her as the plain and awkward 'Olive' saddled with a useless husband (also brilliantly played , by Michael Robbins) and a bossy mother . The series seems a bit predictable in its humour looking back, but we loved it at the time and all the characters were recognisable types who could be met in real life, the cheeky bus conductors in particular. (I used to keep a look out while on our local New Forest buses for lurking inspectors with their clipboards trying to catch the drivers out. ) I always felt a bit sorry for Olive who had a lot to put up with, and never realised that Anna Karen had been a beauty competition star in real life and was far slimmer! Stephen Lewis (catch phrase 'I 'ate you, Butler' about Reg Varney's bus-driver lead character), who played the rule-obsessed bus inspector , later appeared in the 1990s BBC show 'You Rang M'Lord' with Perry Benson, who played Jack Trent in the 1980s version of Enid's 'Island of Adventure' .
Sad to think that there are so few TV stars of the 1960s left now, but at least we have a lot of the shows on film and DVD so it can all be preserved.

Unlike nowadays, many tv comedies of the 1960s and 1970s were funny.

A tragic end for a much loved actress who stared in iconic shows, she will be missed.
