RIP Sidney Poitier
Despite his great age I was sorry to hear of the death of Sidney Poitier two days ago, as I enjoyed many of his films.

He was great in the film version of E.R. Braithwaite’s 1959 autobiographical novel, To Sir, With Love. RIP Sidney Poitier.

Re: RIP Sidney Poitier
I was only watching the clip of 'To Sir with Love' from the film the other night and woke up the next morning to see news of his death.

What a sad coincidence Gloomy Graham. I also heard about him recently...I think it was in the context of him being one of the oldest living Oscar winners, and now he is gone. RIP Sir!

I don't think I've seen any films with him in. My only experience of him is in an episode of Only Fools and Horses, where Rodney and Grandad are arguing about the correct way to pronounce his name - Grandad insists it's Sidney Potter.

His films are enjoyable and in my view well worth watching. My favourites are "In the heat of the night", "Lilies of the field" and "To Sir with love".
