RIP Don Everly

Post by Eddie Muir »

I’m very sad to learn that Don Everly has died aged 84. His brother, Phil died in 2014 a couple of weeks before his 75th birthday. Together the boys were hugely successful and recorded some of the greatest songs of the rock ‘n’ roll era.

Chick and I went to see the Everly Brothers in concert at the Brighton Centre on 7th October 1987. We had waited years to attend one of their shows and we thoroughly enjoyed being part of a packed audience that night.

RIP Don Everly.
'Go down to the side-shows by the river this afternoon. I'll meet you somewhere in disguise. Bet you won't know me!' wrote Fatty.

I've always liked the music of The Everly Brothers. A shame they're no longer with us but a wonderful memory for you and Chick to savour, Eddie.

Wonderful artists. I too saw them on the 1987 tour, Eddie. They were amazing. A sad day for music.

Sad news. RIP Don Everly. One of my favourite Everly Brothers songs is 'All I Have To Do Is Dream':

"Heyho for a starry night and a heathery bed!" - Jack, The Secret Island.

"There is no bond like the bond of having read and liked the same books."
- E. Nesbit, The Wonderful Garden.

Terribly sad news. Don and his brother Phil were among the greats of popular music. Their music will surely live on for a very long time.

All I Have To Do Is Dream is a gorgeous, almost atmospheric song. And I really like Temptation as well. R.I.P. Don Everly.

How many Stateside Rock n Roll pioneers from the mid to late 50s are still with us? The only one I can think of is Jerry Lee Lewis.
