Well done Pete.

Re: Caterpillar Cakes in Combat
It would be nice if the 'powers that be' permitted the posting of images directly through the forum's own software. It's simple enough and would make it so much easier for everyone to be able to do it that way without having to rely on external hosting sites and links. The facility is there and the maximum size of the images that can be uploaded can be set by the webmaster/administrator. It's certainly not rocket science.Eddie Muir wrote:I would have posted it, but I'm afraid I don't know how to, John.Boatbuilder wrote:Did Eddie think he would be banned from the forum if he posted the 'nude' picture on here?

I'd like to be able to post pictures more easily too. There may be good reasons why the image-loading process is set up as it is, but I'll have a chat to Tony and Keith (our webmaster).

Re: Caterpillar Cakes in Combat
Tony and I, in consultation with Keith, played around with adding pictures to our forums posts directly, using an "Upload attachment" tab which allows people to upload images straight from their computer. However, we encountered issues with space. Our website is already large and images which are added in that way take up disk space. I'm afraid we came to the conclusion that we'll have to stick with people uploading their images to picture-hosting sites - at least for the time being.

Re: Caterpillar Cakes in Combat
Anita, is there a limit to the website's allocated disk space on the server? My own forum's hosting company gives me unlimited disk space and bandwidth. Other than that it is down to your own settings in the ACP where you can allocate an amount of disk space for the attachments, along with maximum file size, dimensions, and number of images per post and, if allowing, private messages. If these parameters aren't set correctly then problems will be encountered.
I will PM you with a link to an image which shows the parameters I have mine set to without any problems.

Thanks but things like disk space and bandwidth are Keith's remit, not mine! Our forums are only part of a massive website so perhaps that makes a difference?

Back to the topic, the caterpillar cake war has cropped up in the news a couple of times lately, with a creative tribute from two avid knitters in Great Dunmow, Essex: Yarn-bombers join M&S and Aldi Colin the Caterpillar cake row

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

I use Imgur now and find it easy. It must be remembered that this isn't just a forum. As Anita said, it already has, being a h u g e website, has countless images loaded and disk space must be humungous.Anita Bensoussane wrote: Our website is already large and images which are added in that way take up disk space.
