Hi Barnard. The show was originally called come dancing and was hosted by Terry Wogan back in the 1970s for 20+ years. The powers that be at the BBC then decided that that format had run its course and relaunched it, after a while, in it's current format. Sorry for being a bit vague on timings and such but I am posting from memory.

'Come Dancing' went back even further than the 1970's Wayne. It was started in 1949. I remember watching it on my aunt's TV before we got our first one back in 1959.

I read that with interest, as I feel it raises a number of questions, such as how did she get it? Did she or someone in her 'bubble' break the rules? If not, then is there really point the world in country being in lockdown, as the BBC seems to have bent over backwards to keep everyone safe and yet somehow it has slipped through the net, and they've had someone test positive, which suggests it's transmitted in ways that haven't been worked out yet.

If it is a case that she, or someone at the BBC broke the rules, then I hope they are suitably brought to account.

It also makes me wonder if it will now spread through the rest of the Strictly Cast.

As I said to my wife earlier when we saw that on the news - 'maybe the series won't have a conclusion if it does the rounds'. Hopefully, it won't do that.

It's never ideal if someone has to pull out through illness/injury, but it would be a real shame if they had to stop it completely.

I don't know, I think it might make a nice change. I like Anton and think he could be a very good judge.

I love your positive take on this news Katharine - I think I will encourage my wife to take the same stance.

Thanks for that Boatbuilder. I didn't have time to fact check before I posted, so being born in the late 60s, I remember watching in the early 70s. Surprised it started that early though. :D

For some reason, I've had Monty Python's Always Look on the Bright Side as an ear worm recently, so maybe that's influencing my thinking. :D

I thought it was a close run thing between 3 of the contestants, but was really pleased with the result. :D

I gave three online votes each to Bill and Maisie, so I would have been happy with whoever of the two won. :D

Having said that, they were all good!
