Strictly Come Dancing

Post by pete9012S »

Anyone enjoying the latest series?

My wife and I have been surprised at how lithe Bill Bailey has proved to be.
He said: "I haven't been to stage school and learnt to dance. I haven't lived for the dance... I'm not really Lord of the Dance, I'm caretaker of the dance.
My other fave Anton is out already - I didn't think he would last long this year with his partner having no dance experience.

I bought my wife a bottle of Chardonnay so we can watch the show together when she finishes work later today.
We used have a slug of wine/beer every time Darcey said the word 'core' in the older series, now we need a new buzz word!!

Yes, I love the series, have watched it from the very first it was on.

I think the producers have done a first class job of sticking to the 2 metres ruling, and are still putting on a great contest. :D

Yes, I agree Julie. My wife and I really enjoyed last night's show.

The judges seem to be giving much higher scores than usual? And I think Oti only had an eight score paddle under her desk last night!!!

I'm a couple of weeks behind, and have just started watching episode 2. I was amazed by the standard of dancing in the first show.

Craig seems to be mellowing in his old age, most of his comments were quite nice. :D

I've been very taken with the computer generated graphics. I had to do a double take last week at the train in the studio, and last night the Herculean pillars blowing up was excellent!

Yes, the graphics are great. The whole series is great, and they've done very well, with their distancing too. :D

I haven't noticed the dancing partners being six feet apart! I've not been about so much lately, so good to see you're still around Viv. I hope all is well with you (sorry if I've missed a pertinent post). Not wishing to sound like our friend MJE, but not looking in as much as I used to, the number of new posts is too daunting to read them all!

I thought the train graphic was particularly good. :D

I never watch these so called reality type shows. The winner is who the tv company wants to win. Total rubbish.

I can't say I particularly enjoy some of the filler bits between the dances where they have the couples doing things like visiting a zoo to help them get into the character of a lion, however I tolerate those bits and enjoy the dancing.

As someone who attempts a weekly ballet class I can appreciate how hard it is to learn new skills, particularly those without any kind of dance/performance training.

I most enjoy those celebrities who make the most improvement, such as Chris Ramsey last year. :D

The only other show of that kind I watch is Dancing on Ice.

We record it and fast forward through the dross, just watching the dances, judges comments and scores - and on the results show, the eliminations, dance-offs and final decision.

Yes, Nigel, my wife and I also fast-forward any bits we don't fancy.

My wife has enjoyed the show for years and I first started to watch it with her out of loyalty - but found myself enjoying many of the contestants for their sheer entertainment value!

Sounds like a sensible idea, maybe I might give that a go. :D

Can ‘ordinary’ people not learn to dance? Does it have to be celebrities?
