Died at the age of 65 after a long battle with cancer. Probably best known for the hit single 'Jump' in the 1980's.

Oh so sad to hear this - music of my youth from Eddie.
Dancing with my girlfriend when I was aged fifteen at a wedding back in 1984 to Eddie's sublime solo on 'Beat It' by MJ..

Re: RIP Eddie Van Halen
I'm not well up on their music, but I remember the name from Back to the Future when Marty McFly uses a Van Halen cassette on a walkman as a terrifying background noise as he disguises himself as an alien (Darth Vader from the planet Vulcan) to scare his future father into taking his future mother to the school prom back in the innocent 1950s!
From what I can see, Eddie Van Halen was adored by rock royalty and the public alike. And 65 is far too young.
R.I.P.

A superb guitarist. Very influential and by all accounts a very nice guy. RIP Eddie Van Halen.
