Never heard of it, and I'm from just the other side of Bass Strait... mind you, I've never actually been to Tasmania. I can only find two specific brands made over there, Cripps and range TASMANIA — have you encountered them somewhere, Pete? Other than the made-in-Tasmania tag, it doesn't sound like they're any different from ordinary Scottish shortbread.
On the other hand, macadamia shortbread is a genuine Aussie treat...

I"ve been to Tasmania a few times but have never heard of their shortbread as being a thing.
Here in Australia they're mainly renowned for their apples, beer, wine and dairy products.
