Good luck to any Chelsea or Liverpool supporters in today's F.A Cup.
May the best team win.

I am currently on a bit of a high myself as Everton have hauled themselves up to a mighty position of fifth from the bottom of the relegation zone!

Told you Everton would make it. If Leeds don't learn to keep eleven men on the pitch they are toast.

It certainly looks are if Leeds are the most likely to be relegated. They have had a pretty terrible season.

In the Bundesliga it is either my team or Boodi’s team which will be relegated today.

And so Stuttgart survive, Boodi, whereas Hertha have to win the play off.

So it's still possible that Quälix will have his great games against the HSV.

What a tense game this evening in the Chelsea v Liverpool FA Cup Final. I was half expecting either side to score the crucial winner in extra time. It could have gone either way but thankfully Liverpool just edged it in the penalty shoot-out. Not the way I like to see important matches ending, but as a Reds supporter I won't complain, especially with it being the 150th anniversary of the competition :D

What a day for my teams! VfB avoided relegation and Liverpool won the FA Cup. Mind you, in both cases it could not have been closer and I fully agree with what John (BB) said above about it not being the way that one likes to see important matches (or in the case of VfB seasons) ending. Sorry Barnard, but hopefully Quälix will do his usual thing against HSV. Mind you, although to date he was never relegated from the Bundesliga as either a player or a trainer, I seem to recall that he was relegated from the Premier League a few years ago with (I think) Fulham...am I correct? If that is true then perhaps he is losing his magic touch, but hopefully not.

Yes, you are perfectly correct, Monique, 'Quälix' was the manager of Fulham when they were relegated in 2014 but it looked as though they were already doomed when he took over. He started the next season but with little success in the early stages he departed the club.

Thanks John and glad my memory did not deceive me. Mind you, I though it was "a few" (i.e. three or four!!) years ago and did not realise that it was actually eight. Perhaps time moves more quickly when one gets older, plus I find that the various pandemic-related restrictions over the past two years have really changed my sense of time.

Some consolation for Barnard is no doubt the fact that his other team finished fifth, which is a brilliant result for a team that was only promoted to the Bundesliga in recent years

Yes, Boodi. Union had a great season. Their best yet. I hope Hertha win their play off and stay up.
It was certainly a gripping end to the season with things not decided until the last minute.

Congratulations to Liverpool on their FA Cup victory. The quadruple is still on although I think the PL title has slipped beyond their grasp. Man City would need to mess up big time for Liverpool to win it and I don't see that happening. This weekend's games will be very interesting both at the top and the bottom of the Premier League.

Time really DOES move more quickly as you get older, Monique and I think you are right about the last two years - they really have flown by. Just thinking about it, it seems no time since I retired towards the end of 2011, which means I have now been in retirement for one-seventh of my entire life. It only seems like yesterday when I walked out of the boatyard for the last time.

In my case, they got it wrong, Wolfgang. Things haven't been fun for a while. :( :( :(

An excellent come-back tonight by Everton from being 0-2 down at home to Crystal Palace to win 3-2 and escape relegation.

Although I am probably asking too much, I am now hoping that Aston Villa can repeat tonight's 1-1 result against Burnley, or even better it, on Sunday at Man City to help Liverpool win the title. :D
