Gosh, John, hope you don't lose any more slates from the roof!

Blimey, we seem to have a 'storm of the century' at least once a year.

It appears I have lost two slates from the roof, someone is coming tomorrow to replace them. We have had some torrential rain this afternoon but none has come through so I can count myself lucky.

Sadly this is true. Our garden fences have taken a battering in recent days, but fortunately they are still standing. I'm sorry to hear about your roof, John.

Re: Batten down the hatches for the storm of the century?
Thanks, Eddie. The slates that came off were above the bedroom I converted into a library, naturally I was worried about any rain getting through and on to my books but the roofer has done his job and all is well.

We always notice how windier it is on the coast - a 'blow' is very rare in Guildford. I seem to remember your fence being damaged before, Eddie. Glad it wasn't damaged by the latest storm. Our garden fences have taken a battering in recent days, but fortunately they are still standing. '

Shocked to see the dreadful floods in Cumbria and Lancashire, hope all are safe and well.
