The library in Tianjin is interesting but looks too clinical for me.

I'm afraid I can't access the third link, Jubei, as I get the following message:

451: Unavailable due to legal reasons
We recognize you are attempting to access this website from a country belonging to the European Economic Area (EEA) including the EU which enforces the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and therefore access cannot be granted at this time. For any issues, contact sitehelp@stltoday.com or call 314-340-8888.

I looked up stltoday and found it's an American newspaper - the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Goodness knows why it should be against the law to read an American newspaper online in the EU!

It is likely that there is something within that website that contravenes the EU GDPR law but not US law and therefore they choose to block access from the EU.

The book has 664 pages and costs £100 on Amazon Prime - but about £12 cheaper from other sellers.

The above was a post I made last December.

From today I now own a copy of the said book which my wife bought me (at my request ;) ) for our Golden Anniversary. It is an amazing book and weighs in at a mere 7-kilos! Not for reading in bed.

In case you're wondering, Enid didn't do too badly either - with a gold and diamond ring. :D

Thanks Anita, I’m sure they will. Just hope I don’t drop the heavy book on my foot and break a toe. :D Image

It's been gone for a long time, but the Library of Alexandria would have been wonderful to peruse.

Well if anyone has an overdue book from that library they couldn't to this, which I have just read about pertaining to our local library in Lowestoft. :D

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

I had a couple of very overdue books returned this week - but not as extreme as that! They were so overdue we had deleted them from the online catalogue, along with any record of fines the young woman had accrued. Our fines are capped at £2 per item anyway, so it would only have come to £4.

I found some time this afternoon to sit out in the summerhouse and have a read of some of the book 'Libraries'. In the book I came across a colour image of the B&W one shown at the top of the page in the Wikipedia link in Seymour's post about the Library of Alexandria.

I took a picture of it along with a few more of the book and have linked to them all below - which are full size. I thought these would be better than posting the smaller 620px images in the post. The above mentioned image is the fifth one.
