Maybe so, but even the Queen doesn't talk as "posh" as she used to — compare her accent in her Christmas speech of 1957 with her Christmas speech of 2017, 60 years later...KEVP wrote: If you are looking for the "poshest" accent in Britain, I think I would suggest the Queen. And Prince Charles. Since these folks are at the very top of the English social pyramid, I think they are also generally the "most posh" people in Britain.

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

An interesting comparison, Courtenay. I’m inclined to agree with your verdict about the Queen’s accent.

Jacob Rees-Mogg has what I would consider a ridiculously 'posh' accent - all that drawling he does.

Ooer, yes. I was just thinking, too, I know a lady who lives in London and speaks with a very affected RP accent... I found out from a mutual acquaintance some time ago that it's completely put on, as she's actually pure Scouse.

You mean, if it continues, and she's stil around, in a few more years she'll be speaking like - "Hey man this is me queen's speech, innit? Re: Your accent?
What's an Asian English accent like, Jubei?
In my experience South Asians have a distinct, rather annoying accent (There's a bit of self-loathing for you all, although I like to think mine is quite alright and not so Indian ), whereas South East Asians have quite a pleasant, exotic soft accent. I assume Central Western Asia sounds more European, as do the parts of Russia that are in Asia. And I have no idea how the Oceania island people (filipinos etc) speak.
I'd even say Asian English accents are more diverse than European English accents, though that's quite subjective, I suppose.

Re: Your accent?
hi Darrell, I apologized for not being too specific regarding "Asian English" accent. I presume my "Asian" is from the South East Asian region, which comprised of Indonesian-Malaysia-Singapore mix. It is interesting because the accent is a result of a mixed from Bahasa Indonesia and Chinese language. The Chinese languages I referred too is already a mix of several dialects, most notably the Hokkien dialect. If you happened to visit our region you'll experience the distinguish English accent spoken here.
this is the extreme example of the accent :

I don't know how long this link will last, but some forumites (especially not from the UK) might be interested in this short feature about the Suffolk accent.

It starts from about 17 minutes 40 seconds.
As well as it featuring my local accent, there are also a few glimpses of one of my favourite places - Sutton Hoo.

I've just listened to the segment and enjoyed it, Katharine. Accents are fascinating and I love the Sutton Hoo treasure. Pity that The Dig is only available on Netflix!

From the bits I've seen and from what I've read, it sounds really good.
I can't even console myself with a trip out there this month as it's about 10 miles from where I live so I don't think I can class it as 'exercising locally'.
