I must add that Julie is being very modest about the grandeur of this fantastic retreat.That is the hotel's fire escape!

It certainly is a chilling thought, IceMaiden. A very sad situation could've been a whole lot worse if, as you said, the helicopter crashed the other side of the Mountain. I used to frequently walk the Welsh Mountains, & the Rhinogs were a particular favourite place of mine, so I know the terrain very well & how treacherous they can be in bad weather. My sympathy goes out to those that died in the tragic crash & to the loved ones they left behind.

Agreed. It's a chilling thought of what could have happened. It's a tragedy to those victims' families.

Apparently all five were members of the same family, on their way to Dublin for a christening . It's awful and quite horrifying that your entire life can change like that without any warning. Their saying it could take three days or more depending on the weather to find and recover all the bits of the helicopter. Thank goodness that mountainside is deserted otherwise there would almost certainly have been a lot more than five victims.

I was just thinking that. In Towards Zero, Mr Treves is 'murdered' by someone putting an Out of Order notice on the lift. Climbing stairs gave him a fatal heart attack.

I think the joke suggests that the hotel is so grand, what everyone would assume is the main staircase is only the fire escape.
