What Are You Doing Now?
Re: What Are You Doing Now?
I hope you won't be too disappointed by the New Orleans jazz bands of today, Chrissie. They are nowhere near as good as the old time greats like Sidney Bechet, Albert Nicholas, Tommy Ladnier, not forgetting Satch.

Re: What Are You Doing Now?
Hi Dave, no, I'm not expecting Satchmo, there was only one Louis Armstrong out there.
Sidney Bechet (Petite Fleur) is another favorite of mine. I am not familiar with the others that you've listed.
As we've never been to NOLA, it will be quite exciting for us, so I am looking forward to see and hear and soak up as much of the atmosphere as possible.
A friend suggested House of Blues and Jackson Square (good street musicians).

I cease to be amazed as to how some of our friends follow the forums.Well, according to my Hotmail inbox it is quiet as I'm only following a few threats on EBS

Exactly. And, dear Chrissie, it is threads, not threats!Daisy wrote:You don't know what you're missing!

Dear Nigel, I keep forgetting it. I thought a thread is something that you pull through a needle.Moonraker wrote:And, dear Chrissie, it is threads, not threats!
Since André got rid of my automatic spell checker (as it interferes badly with typing German e-mails), I probably make more typos than before. I'm sorry for that.

Julie, in an ideal world I would do the same, but as I never seem to have enough spare time, I can barely manage to follow the threads to which I've subscribed.Julie2owlsdene wrote:I've never gone in for emails letting me know of posts. Re: What Are You Doing Now?
I've noticed that there's not yet a thread on the new EBS Journal, so I guess it's not out yet?
We have our mail collected until after the New Orleans trip, so I might not receive it before 25th of November.

It is the same word as 'thread' meaning something you pull through a needle - guess because its a lot of comments all strung together in a long 'thread' like a piece of wool or cotton.Chrissie777 wrote:Dear Nigel, I keep forgetting it. It's quite amusing when you say there are 'threats' on the EBS - as that of course means something quite different!

Re: What Are You Doing Now?
There was a thread on the next Journal but Tony changed the title to 'general Journal Natter' as it was just talking about Journals costs etc.Chrissie777 wrote:I've noticed that there's not yet a thread on the new EBS Journal, so I guess it's not out yet?

The next Journal is still at the printers.

A spell-check wouldn't help, as you spelled threat correctly!Chrissie777 wrote:Dear Nigel, I keep forgetting it. I thought a thread is something that you pull through a needle.Moonraker wrote:And, dear Chrissie, it is threads, not threats!

Here is the Journal Natter thread to which Mr Houghton alluded.

I know exactly what you mean though. Obviously my cellphone has a checker (I guess all phones have them now), and I type half my texts in Marathi and half in English. It's quite confusing for the checker, I suppose, so I always end up with English words in the middle of my Marathi sentences. Fortunately, it's a smart phone, so I guess it's a smart checker, and it learns new Marathi words quickly. He's a good boy.Chrissie777 wrote: André got rid of my automatic spell checker (as it interferes badly with typing German e-mails)
