Time for Tea

Post by Nick »

Over the past few weeks I have been trying different varieties of tea bag/tea in a quest to find the ultimate cuppa.

I have tried;

Twinings Everday
Twinings Breakfast
Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Breakfast
Sainsbury's Red Label (my normal purchase)
M&S Gold blend

I'm rather smitten with the M&S ones at present, nice golden colour, lively aroma and refreshing taste.

Which tea would you recommend I try next?

PG Tips is my favourite tea bag for a cuppa. Always a good brew. Never goes wrong!
"You're so sharp you'll cut yourself one day!" Hunchy said going to the door
"So my Mother told me that when I was two years old!" said Julian and the others giggled.

Punjana tea is good if you like a strong cuppa. My parents drink Yorkshire tea but I'm not so keen - though that might have more to do with the water in their area than the tea itself!

Have you tried Twinings Assam? - it's rich and flavoursome. My favourite is Earl Grey - I drink that all the time, I prefer it to 'ordinary' tea.

I do like an Earl Grey in the afternoon but for reason not in the morning. :D

Thanks to all for the other suggestions, I'll put them on the list and try them over the coming months.

I am more into Green Tea these days.

I love the Clipper:

Green Tea with Ginseng and Raspberry
Green Tea with Strawberry
Green Tea with Lemon

Not good for breakfast, but later in the day they are really refreshing.

Asda Green Tea is ok, but my favourite by far is Uncle Lee's Organic Green Tea. I can only get it from the USA though, so I have to stock up when I go to Florida.
I went on some great adventures reading the Famous Five books.

I'm into Glengette at the moment Nick and have been for a spell.
I'm tempted by your M&S though but alas our nearest is miles away and with my mobility problems I will have to wait. :D

I am a Tetley girl myself, although do like Earl Grey strictly without milk, I cringe if I order one and am asked if I want milk, urgh the very thought!

I`m told Tea-pigs are very nice haven`t tried them myself. For herby type tea I like Peppermint.

Ice cold tea in the morning to awaken me from my slumber and the dawning realisation I'm going to be late again, I'm so in trouble.

To make a perfect cup of tea I was always taught the necessity to 'warm the pot first' whether using either tea bags or loose tea.

So, should we warm the mug, if making a cuppa in a mug with a tea bag?

This is only my personal opinion in answer to the original poster- but to me tea tastes better when the pot is pre-heated first. I use a porcelain tea pot, heated with a little boiling water and then once made, drink my tea out of a china tea cup.
