Re: Seen any strange items on ebay?
There's only one thing worse than a book having no dust wrapper...that is a book having a very ripped dust wrapper!!

Re: Seen any strange items on ebay?
Here's something I thought was 'strange' - or at least, 'unusual' - a Holiday book being sold with the original printers embossing stamps, which stamped the gold vignettes on the front of this particular book. Mind you - it ain't cheap!

Not cheap as you say, Rob, but it's fascinating to see the brass printing plates.
Thanks for the details about the Giant Tiddley Winks game, Tony.

I'm going to offer £300 for it to keep all the riff-raff away!

Would those be described as 'slightly chipped dustwrappers' do you think!
Sorry, this referred to Pete's post on the previous page - I thought it was the last post!!

Re: Seen any strange items on ebay?
Thanks for clearing that up, couldn't think who the other two were! Also this must be the first time you've managed to find something so quickly in the cave. Have you got a new cleaner for the cave, although you need to be careful if she's a Mrs Stick.Tony Summerfield wrote: I am not sure why this isn't in the Cave as I certainly have it (I have just checked to make sure I wasn't imagining things!), I will have to see if it fits on my scanner, possibly not which would explain why it isn't there!!
Update: Two reasons, it is too big for my scanner and there is no date on it, which the Cave needs. It is a Bestime product and with Bom on it probably comes from the late 50s or early 60s. According to my post-it note inside I bought it for £8 at a toy fair at Sandown Racecourse near London on August 14th 1999!! I think the other two characters are Silky and the Angry Pixie but I am not sure why Bom is visiting them.
If I could live here on this secret island always and always and always, and never grow up at all, I would be quite happy

Re: Seen any strange items on ebay?
Yes - I noticed that - a real shame, because the other books look in great condition! I have one of these books, and they are sturdily bound and well produced.
For those that don't know, each volume contains two books.

Re: Seen any strange items on ebay?
I have now added the Giant Tiddley Winks to the Cave, guessing the year as 1961. I find it is almost impossible to get a photo square on and I am too embarrassed to see how long it has taken me to square up the image to make it fit for the Cave, but at least it is there now even if nobody ever looks at it!

I've just looked at it, Tony, and it looks lovely. Great work with the scanning!

It was a nuisance. An adventure was one thing - but an adventure without anything to eat was quite another thing. That wouldn't do at all. (The Valley of Adventure)

Make that four people. I used to be a dab hand at tiddlywinks in my youth but I never had a swish Enid Blyton set.
