Tell you what, I'LL cook for you next time I'm down? (At the flat, I've no plans for my cooking skills to be part of the impression I make on your parents )
P.S. Sorry to everyone for derailing the thread! On topic - I was glad you had plenty of diet coke at the flat when I was down!

"It's the ash! It's falling!" yelled Julian, almost startling Dick out of his wits...
"Listen to its terrible groans and creaks!" yelled Julian, almost beside himself with impatience.

Well we can TRY that. But as the guest I feel I will not let you! We will have to make something together for the EBS day however!
And I don't see why you're the one apologising! I'm the one who started it! (for once! )
And yes, Diet Coke and normal Coke are the two things that we have plenty of!
I ticked tea and coke, and other. My other would be squash- Vimto to be precise. Makes sure I get my daily intake of water in one way or another!
"You're so sharp you'll cut yourself one day!" Hunchy said going to the door
"So my Mother told me that when I was two years old!" said Julian and the others giggled.

TIFFIN! That's what I want to make for the day! No diabetics (or in-denial glucose intolerants allowed!)

Well we were out again yesterday afternoon, and I spent the whole time on ginger beer! Funnily enough, I don't think I ever tried ginger beer until I was well into my teens or perhaps even my twenties, but I really like it. On the other hand I was at this wedding reception when I was only seven, and I remember somebody handing me some ginger ale. I didn't like it - I believe it does actually contain alcohol - but I was at the age where you think "I've had a sip of ale, look how grown up I am!"

Somehow I find ginger beer tastes a lot better than ginger ale. We can't find ginger beer here, but Schweppes Ginger Ale is readily available - at a price! It tastes more watery than gingery to me, unfortunately - at least all the cans I've had in Dhaka did.

I really like ginger in food normally but I've never been able to warm to ginger beer. Maybe i've just never had a decent brand.

I don't drink Ginger beer that often but when I do it's usually "Old Jamaica". I find it very tasty and refreshing. I ued to drink a lot of coffee but not any more. These days I try to keep caffeine to a minimum.

I think I've tried Old Jamaica - is that the one in brown bottles? - but I dunno, just didn't do much for me. I should try it again I suppose - I'd like to like ginger beer.
Actually, I don't mind the odd whiskey and ginger.

Yeah thats the one, brown plastic bottle with cream coloured label. It's a fairly cheap brand, worth a try sometime.

We've discussed this in the past. Ginger Ale (American Dry Ginger Ale) is really a mixer - usually with Scotch Whisky. It isn't (imo) a particularly nice drink on its own, but is pretty good mixed with whisky!Ming wrote:Somehow I find ginger beer tastes a lot better than ginger ale.

Ginger Beer is particularly popular in Jamaica, and Ginger Ale in The Bahamas.
Ginger Ale is as was said just a mixer, containing no alcohol and in many cases no Ginger either - just fizzy water with chemicals
Stones Ginger Wine is quite good, warms the cockles on a cold evening...

I went on some great adventures reading the Famous Five books.

Don't worry Nigel. I'm sure there will be lots of sandwiches for you to munch on!

Ok, let me add something: No diabetics (or in-denial glucose intolerants) allowed! [Unless they want to have a serious hypo, and are willing to sign paperwork verifying they are making an informed decision and accept responsibility for any repercussions.]Moonraker wrote:Discriminator!Fiona1986 wrote:TIFFIN!
