Thanks to everyone else who wished me happy birthday. The Castle of Adventure was certainly a most welcome present, and even though it doesn't have it's D/W, I will be very happy to have it on my shelf, once I've read it of course.
The cake was a sponge with chocolate grated into it, (nearly all gone now). My 8 year old daughter decorated it with icing, sweets and 5 candles. She chose 5 because my husband printed off a picture of the FF from the 1970s TV series and attached it to a fork which was stuck into the cake.

A very happy birthday, Katharine! At least you had mild weather for the great day. Very impressed that you got 'The Castle of Adventure' - what a great present! Father Christmas told me that if I was a good boy I would be getting 'The Mountain of Adventure' for Xmas!
