Yes, I remember Tiny Tim's peculiar rendition of Nowhere Man on the Beatles 1968 Christmas record. I must admit it is some years since I heard it and realise, after listening to it this morning, I haven't missed much! Nevertheless, it proves how strange and fascinating the world of pop can be!

Just been reading through Eddie's list of Chegger's Choice of songs. Some are naff, yes. But NOT the one titled - There's no one quite like Grandma - by the Winnifred School Choir. That's a lovely song, and a fine tribute to all WE GRANDMA'S .

It's great being a GRANDMA, picking up the kids from school, watching their little faces light up when they see you waiting by the door, rushing out with outstretched arms, and nearly knocking you (me) over with their hugs. Here's to Grandma's everywhere!!

That's one of the worst! I remember my mum saying when I was young that my sister and I mustn't buy that record for either of our grandmothers or they'd be sick, so I'd better not get my children to track down a copy to send to her either (except perhaps as a joke! )

Yes, nothing wrong with Ernie - it's a good song! Personally I also like Lily the Pink and The Lion Sleeps Tonight.

I like Puppet on a String and Yesterday Man, and I wouldn't really describe them as cheesy. They're good songs but not sufficiently corny/over-the-top to be classed as "cheesy" (in my opinion). Of course, cheesy songs can be good too!

I've always hated the word 'cheesy' when it comes to music, because most of the records people describe as 'cheesy' are songs I really like - most of ABBA, for example, is supposed to be 'cheesy'. I actually quite like most of the songs on Eddie's list (though I can appreciate some are 'cheesier' than others ).

To me, most 'cheesy' songs were once very, very popular with the masses...maybe too popular, and so were overplayed, until people grew tired of them.

Surely 'cheese' is a generational thing: one mans 'cheese' is another man's classic?

I think you've hit the nail on the head there Rob. There are whole club nights dedicated to "cheesey music". Songs qualifying as Cheese are extremely popular at events like weddings etc. One can buy compilations of these tracks in the shops. They are very popular indeed, so popular in fact that they have ;lost any shred of mystery or "coolness" that other, lesser known songs retain.
