Re: General Natter Room
Have a great meet up you two. I can only repeat what Daisy and Anita have said, that I too have met many lovely people by attending the E.B. Days, and meet ups since and have become firm friends with many.

I agree wholeheartedly with all that has been said about forum friends. Chick and I have formed some valued friendships during the ten years that I have been posting on this great site.

Re: General Natter Room
I count my blessings that I found this site all those years ago and have also made friends that I couldn't imagine not having. I think Anita hits the nail on the head when she says it our love of Blyton that helps make us who we are. I still really miss the annual Society Day, and wish that it could rise from the ashes once again. Maybe a scaled-down version. But would that draw the crowds? Highlights for me were the dealer's stalls and some of the speakers. Of course, meeting other members and those who are on the forums were the icing on the cake. Getting lost on the way to the picnic was a highlight in its own way, too - although I always (eventually) got you there! I will always remember Zoe (George@Kirrin) driving around Twyford in her Beetle, with the 70s' FF TV theme tune blaring out at mega decibels!
Whatever happened to Zoe?

I guess Zoe is busy doing her police work, Nigel, and of course she loves her horses.

Re: General Natter Room
I've recently been in touch with Zoe via e-mail. She's fine &, as Eddie said, very busy. Apart from her work, & looking after her Horses, She's also busy writing a Famous Five novel & hopes to get it printed one day soon!
I hope I've not let the cat out of the bag by saying this!

I think you may be getting me and Eddie mixed up, number 6. I was the one who said she's busy.
Glad to hear Zoe is okay. F.F novel, wow, sounds interesting! She she doing it for this site, or has she got in touch with the copyright holders and done a deal?
We can't be left in suspense now.

Last time we heard from Zoe, she'd bought a piece of land which sounded as though it would keep her busy:

Re: General Natter Room
I may be wrong...but I'm sure the copyright holders wouldn't allow another Famous Five to be printed. It would be very unusual! In fact I find it hard to see how such a novel could be printed, unless she has been very, very lucky. A new Famous Five novel hasn't been published in this country in decades...unless you include the Famous Five Survival Guide which wasn't exactly a novel. The copyright seems to be such that only the publishers can decide what is commissioned and I get the impression they aren't really interested unless they approach the author in the first instance.Julie2owlsdene wrote:Glad to hear Zoe is okay. Be good to hear more about this!

True, Robert, which is why I said we can't be left in suspense.

Sorry, Julie! I had read one Eddie's post before I posted mine. That's what threw me!

Re: General Natter Room
Zoe definitely said 'novel' when she e-mailed me, but she may have meant a short story(?) or something similar. She may not be aware of the copyright, I don't know. I'm in the dark as much as everyone else. I'll e-mail her again & see if she can clarify what she means.Rob Houghton wrote:I may be wrong...but I'm sure the copyright holders wouldn't allow another Famous Five to be printed.
