I guess that is quite impossible for me. I was just looking at Abebooks, and they've got a great collection of First Editions (and in most cases, they had the dustjackets), but, sadly, I could never buy them; the prices are just too expensive.

Happy New Year everyone! We've had 20 people from Samoa, USA, France and Australia over, lots of fun, lots of chattering - and lots of music!! Sadly no Enid Blyton fans, though!
A very Happy, Prosperous and Blytonian New Year to everyone here.

totally agree - now is probably the best time for a few years to do this. Prices are down at least 30% on a year ago (except for very, very rare items) but will certainly return to their previous heights as things improve generally.
The dealers have been forced to lower their prices and there are no real collectable- books being auctioned on Ebay - mostly "buy-it-now" items to preserve at least a reasonable price (few are selling) - a good time to buy if you can track down the items you want.
Happy new year

I wish all of us here a great New Year. We may discuss/debate but I hope we never argue! I am proud to be a part of this community. I have made more friends here than anywhere else, and I am so grateful for that. I look on Tony and Anita as parent like figures - with them at the helm, how can we possibly fail!
[Just so that Keith doesn't feel left out, I consider you an uncle figure!]
