Eid Mubarak means "Happy Eid". Eid-ul-Fitr is the holiday at the end of the month of Ramadan.

According to the Wiki article, you're supposed to be feasting on samosas, rice, handesh (whatever that is!) and shemai!

We had our main day of celebration yesterday and feasted on steamed lamb, roast potatoes and parsnips plus cabbage, carrots, and gravy. A Bosnian family who live round the corner from us gave us some of their home-made cakes and biscuits (swirly batter confections and pastries flavoured with nuts, honey and almond paste.) And of course, no celebration would be complete without chocolates (we plumped for Quality Street because we love the toffee and caramel varieties.)

Steamed lamb? Sounds revolting! This leads me on to think, what is a feast? A large, rich meal; a pleasurable abundance of something; a gluttonous gorging of food and drink, a la Henry VIII.....?

I think my ideal feast would need to be more than a roast dinner! I imagine a very long table, laden with pastries, savouries, bowls of Indian dishes, rice, barrels of delicious ales and of course, good company.

Is that an invitation?

Oh, and wouldn't the "good company" prefer to sit on chairs?

I've got a fridge (frig?) full of London Pride and Leffe Blond. No macaroons or ginger beer though.
