Here I am. :)
:D

Here you are;

I want someone to tell me I’m special
I want someone to tell me they care
I want someone to say “I love you”
I want someone to say “I’ll be there”

I want to be told I’m priceless
I want to be told I’m everything
I want to hear someone’s loving words
I want to hear someone’s feelings

I want to be respected
I want to be adored
I want someone’s arms around me
I want someone who’s there

I want to be someone’s darling
I want to be someone’s sweetheart
I want to be with someone who likes me
I want to be in someone’s heart

I want to be told I’m Lovely
And Believe every word
I want to be held tightly
And Not Worry about the world

I want someone to snuggle with
And hold close at Night
I want someone to hold my hand
And tell me everything’s alright

I want someone to tell me I’m special
I want someone to tell me they care
I want someone to say “I love you”
I want someone to say “I’ll be there”

Well? :?

This inspired me to put one of my poems on the forum too. It's a pretty old one (I was only 15 when I wrote it!) Its quite light-hearted, though most of my poems are pretty somber and serious! Don't write so many poems nowadays, unless I get inspired!

Perhaps we could start a poem thread?

The Pirates

Here come pirates, in our town!
And in the lane at 'Dead Man's Place':
With eye patches and dressing gowns
And painted scratches on each face.

A broom is used as crutch for Jack
The one-eyed leader of the pack,
And Joe, the smallest one of all
Gives forth a hearty pirate call:
'Your sweets or else your life!' and then
He brandishes his sword again!

Poor Mrs Black from number four
Waits trembling at her cottage door,
She takes some coppers from her purse
Which saves her from the pirates curse!

Can no one beat these cut-throat men
Who rampage round the town?
These terrors who demanded sweets,
Will no one tie them down?
Can all be lost?
But then we see
A strong all-lady cavalry,
And fast the pirates all disperse
For fear that they must face the worst:
They're led reluctantly away
But vow that they'll return 'some day'.
Their torture chamber, known as 'scrub'
And then their prison: 'Soapy tub'!
8)
'Oh voice of Spring of Youth
hearts mad delight,
Sing on, sing on, and when the sun is gone
I'll warm me with your echoes
through the night.'

Good peom Robert, whilst reading, it reminded me so much of Mousehole. (A tiny fishing village in Cornwall pronounce Mouzel, in case anyone is wondering :D )

Steph, your peom bought tears to my eyes. It brought back memories of my childhood. One I won't go into, but it was an unhappy one, surrounded by fear and insecurities, and I always remember wishing if only I was loved. Enid's books was my escapism. Your peom was truely lovely.

Thanks to you both, Pippa-Stef and Robert for those poems. Very differant in style indeed but both very evocative. Robert I could'nt help getting a vision of an old cartoon strip from the Whizzer and Chips comics of the 70's, there was a strip called The Pirates which I used to love and have'nt thought of for ages. Do you remember the one I mean?

Pippa-stef that was very moving. The desire for love is universal and I'm sure that your poem would speak to a zillion young people around the world if they could only read it.

Great poems, Robert and Steph.

Both poems are very moving indeed, though in different ways!

For some reason I've stopped writing poetry and taken up haiku instead. Which is way harder, or way easier, once you've got the hang of it.

I'm pretty sure I need to write a haiku later on today during English Literature exam. Bleh.

I loved the poems in Enid's Child Whispers. They were so lighthearted and fun, somehow, I felt the words came out as a tiny little pixie walked lightly across the paper!

Thanks to everyone. :P

Steph: really enjoyed your poem too. It reminded me of some of mine. maybe I'll post them some day! Don't want to bore people with my poems though!! Could post loads!

Don't remember the Whizzer and Chips pirates, but did used to have that comic every week: it was one of my favourites!

Anyone else write poems? maybe it should be a separate thread?! It's interesting to read people's poems. :D

Many thanks for your poems Pippa-Stef and Robert.

I began writing this post on Saturday, and my computer froze!

I certainly wouldn't have dared to share such a poem when I was your age Pippa-Stef (if I had been able to write a similar one in the first place, of course). Would I now? Hmmm. Not sure!

Robert you defintely seem to have a gift for poetry - particularly as you were only 15 at the time of writing about the pirates.

I don't understand why people write sombre poems. Is it a form of release? Therapy? Am I being thick?
This is a Green Knight Book which means that it is a book by one of the most popular authors of all.

It all depends on your mood I guess. Expressing things can be a big help sometimes so if you're feeling down and there's nobody around to talk to you can write it down on paper. Once if its done of course you may feel its rather good and decide to keep it. 8)

That Poem was an emtional outlet at the time (Boy Trouble) but according to a adult friend at school, it captures relationships!

And to think I thought it wouldn't mean anything to anyone but me!

For me writing is emotive. I can let out my feelings by writing them into a story, creating a mood, or thumping things out on my blog, because that way, I'm not hurting anybody, I'm not upsetting anyone, and I'm not bottling things up!

It's my artistic outlet! :)

I used to write loads of sombre poems when I was going through my 'depressing poem stage' when I was about sixteen/seventeen. I used to write about failed relationships, death, slaughter (world war one, etc) - anything that I thought was 'deep'. Don't know whether it was just a reaction to being more aware of the troubles of the world or just being depressing and 'clever'. Most of the poems from that 'era' of my poetry writing now fill me with terrible embarrasment!! But some I am surprised at how good they still seem!

Nowadays I prefer writing comic poems and monologues. :P
