Post by Trevor »

I only just found this 'corner', thanks to Anita just now and have gone through reading the posts, and now I feel as if I'm out of my depth posting what I intended to post. But here goes...

A poem I wrote not too long ago in remembrance of Enid Blyton...

Enid Blyton was her name,
Writing books was her game.
“Famous Five”, “Saint Clare’s”, she invented them all
“Mr. Goon” who could ‘round a bend and drive you up a wall
And on that wall you would stay
Until you had to go to bed that day
Then early in that morning you would rise,
And finish the book of “Fatty” and the spies.
And then go out into the garden and play,
Just like Fatty, Larry, Daisy, Pip and Bets did that day.
“Woo-hoo-collywobbles” was the name
Of that rumbly-tumbley old game
While the “Famous Five” go adventuring on the marsh,
“Mr. Pink-Whistle”; was never nothing like rash.
“The Three Golliwogs” played their tricks,
While the readers got their kicks
Oh Enid we wish you were with us today
Oh what fun with the days so gay,
Under the tree and in the shade,
Nibbling on Macaroons while sipping lemonade

THE END

Also, a funny thing; this thread hasn't been used for nearly a whole year!

Let me think of one.

Enid Blyton.
Her trousers needed to be tightened.
Writing books she done
but she didn't do it for fu.n
Darrell and Sally were there
among the books at the fair.
And now shes gone from life
It feels for her fans a stab with a knife.
But the books are still loved today
and that is why are here right now and saying "Hey!"
Abi.

What does tightening trousers have to do with it?

Malory Towers
With it's flowers
Secret seven
Books more than eleven
Famous Five
Had to survive
EB's books make our day brighten!!!

1. I assumed she wore trousers
2. I don't get the last line. It doesn't rhyme

That's much better Icey. You're not a bad little poet. :D
