Easter Snow!

Post by Anita Bensoussane »

It's Easter Sunday and my children are outside playing in the snow, which is still falling quite thickly! A far cry from a typical Blytonian Easter, when characters often spend their time bathing in the sea and eating ices!

And a far cry from last Easter when we had a mini heat wave! No snow here, just sleet, but a really cold dog walk nevertheless. The colder it gets, the longer Barney lingers, but I haven't got his fur coat. My coat is now hanging up to dry, but Barney is still wearing his!

I wonder if, in fact, Enid secretly wrote her books from a hillbilly porch in Georgia, where it's certainly warm enough at the moment to go for a dip! :D
I spoke too soon! It snowed this morning. Now it's bright and sunny, 46F. It'll be 62F tomorrow and 68F on Wednesday. :?

There's no snow down here, just chilly, and rained very heavy this morning.

The last snow we had down here, was about three years ago. Even the A30 was then at a standstill. it only lasted a couple of days, then it was gone.
Julian gave an exclamation and nudged George.

Has the A30 been known to move, Julie?

We had some this morning. It was too wet for it to settle, but it gave it a jolly good try.

Personally I'm glad it didn't settle for two reasons- 1) all the teenagers (along with younger children) act stupidly (but the little kids can't help it- I was just the same)

and 2) because I don't want to have to go to Wales in the snow!!
It's bad enough that Wales has a reputation for raining!

Anyway, A White Easter is not something I would like to see happening regularly. Personally I'd rather have a white Christmas!

Even more shocking is that the A30 is now gone, after lasting just a couple of days!

Some heavy snowshowers here too but the ground was too wet for it to lie. It is definetly very Unblytonian weather at the moment in the UK. Absolutely freezing. Still hopefully this means we are getting the bad stuff out of the way and May will be fine.

We also have snow here near the Alps.Snowdrops and daffodils are hidden in the snow.
Some colourful blooms are fighting against the white wintriness.
If you wanna go skiing-no problem at all.
Hope this spook will be coming to an end soon.I need sun and the flavours and sounds of a fresh and newly awaked nature.

We had snow :D. I had a visit from my new bloke - first time we'd met in person - and we tried to do some walking in the Lake District. Got stuck in a blizzard at Wasdale, nearly stuck in six inches going over Honniston pass and then trudged through four inches to see Castlerigg Stone Circle. Oddly there wasn't much at lower levels though.

We've got at least half an inch of settled snow here! In Reading!!!!

It's April!

Although it is well established in Five get into Trouble that no two days in April are the same!

It was warm yesterday!

A total surprise when I woke up this morning. The last time that we had snow in April down my way was April 1976. I remember it very well, as my sister and myself were summoned for a shopping trip to Portsmouth just as we were about to enjoy a snowball fight. Despite out protests, the matter was not negotiable, parents in the 1970s always got their own way! By the time that we returned, all the snow had melted. A very hot summer soon followed, will the same happen this year?
