Advent

Post by Moonraker »

Image So, this is Advent...(sorry, John). Welcome to the crass commercialism of the season of goodwill and humbug. Good to see though that the Nativity scene is back in the Market Square in Salisbury - just waiting for the howls of protest now from the lefties to say it is offensive to Muslims. However, as most of my Muslim friends in the city own and work in restaurants, they all seem happy with it!

Now I must go and prepare for the visit by the three spirits.....Oh, and a Merry Christmas!

That wouldn't be whisky, vodka and gin by any chance would it, Nigel? But of course, I forgot, you are a beer drinker!

Yep, only loonies object - not the majority of people of non-Christian faiths who are generally happy to see people celebrating and worshipping God in their own way.

Glad I didn't hold my breath, it isn't there this year.

Once in Wiltshire's Cathedral City
Stood a lowly nativity scene,
Now it's gone, which might be a pity,
Not at all, the PC people have been.

Typical. Probably not surprising though, some school has been in the news recently for postponing the nativity play till January.

It seems to give "White Christmas" over here.
"Green Christmas" in Britain this year???

I love a little bit this kitschy and commercially American Christmas but never lost sight of proper sense of Cristmas or winter solstice or......
Let's enjoy that days will become longer and warmer as of now.
