Of course, despite his violent youth, John Lennon eventually became a pacifist. There are some who seem to believe that his pacifism may have come from his guilt from believing that he may have been the cause of his good friend Stu's death.

But again, we really can't say for sure.

And yet the BBC have recently had a 'celebrating John Lennon' feature, despite the man having been violent to women and men (almost bragging about the former at one point), homophobic (he once almost beat a man to death after he suggested JL was gay), a drug addict (heroin at one point, no less) but apparently that's all OK....

But because Enid Blyton used gollies in children's stories she can't be celebrated.... Double standards methinks.
